Week 33

Crazy Week!

This week has been crazy busy! This Wednesday was transfers. My new companion is Elder Merkley. He is awesome! We have similar personalities. So we get along well. 

Every single day has been super busy. Every second of every day this week we have been running around. Luckily we are still on track for Joey's baptism on Saturday night. It's coming quick! 

Today is memorial day. And all of the members wanted us over to feed us. So we had 5 dinners in 6 hours... I am dying. I have never had so much food!  Not even on thanksgiving! 

We had this super cool thing happen today where we had a teaching appointment with Jeremy that fell through. So we went and tried by this woman who wanted a book of Mormon. So we went there and we saw Jeremy there instead! He knew from then on that God had sent us and we can help him. Super awesome miracle!

Week 32

Floods & Miracles!

This week has been crazy! We had like 6 days non-stop raining. There's a stream named Opequon creek. It was 10 feet higher than normal, it flooded over the bridges and actually cut off people from the other side. It was crazy we got some pictures of it coming back from the VA hospital.

This week we had exchanges. Me and Elder Pollard stayed in Martinsburg. We had to do service for brother Brown at two in the afternoon. And so we didn't want to be late, so we rode bikes. It was blazing hot with tons of humidity. So wet we were both just dying. But it was a fun day!

Wednesday we has this big ward family history kickoff thing, so we took Joey and taught him about family history. He thought it was super awesome that he could be baptized for his deceased brother one day!

Friday we had a lesson with Joey about the Atonement and helped him understand how it applies to him. He committed to keep the word of wisdom. So far so good! He's on track to be baptized June 2nd. So fingers crossed! 

Saturday we had an awesome lesson with Keith and Bing Volker. They said they would pray about a date to be baptized and to give them 2 weeks! So that's awesome! 

Sunday we had 4 investigators at church, the most I've had! Then right after church our investigator Ben Gunn texted us and said to set a date for in two weeks to be baptized so we'll hopefully have a double baptism in two weeks!

We had call-outs and transfer news is that I'm staying in Martinsburg for another 5 weeks and Elder Jacobson is leaving. So my new companion is going to be Elder Merkley.

Week 31

This week I had to give the instruction at district meeting and was let known about it that morning. So that was fun.

We had an awesome couple lessons this week with Joey. We had a member there who is super awesome!

Thursday we helped get someone arrested. We street contacted this couple and slowed them down enough for the police to catch up to them and arrest them. So we basically taught someone while they were being patted down. So now they have a BoM with them while they're in lock up.

We had dinner with Chong, and Keith was there! Super spiritual lesson with 3 Nephi 11, and a lot of unanswered questions saved for the next lesson.

Saturday we went to a baptism for the Hedgesville elders. Joey liked it like usual! That night we went to give Elder Thueson a blessing to cast out some evil spirits. So that was a new experience.

Sunday it was announced that there would be a special stake conference. Just on Sunday because a Very senior general authority is coming to speak to us. So that's super cool!

Happy Mother's Day

Week 30

Keith is the man!

This week was awesome! Finally starting to get warm and humid over here. This week we had a couple people moving in and they all called us the same day... so we ended up doing like 7 hours of service that day it was crazy...

Saturday we played volleyball in the morning. We then went and had a baptismal interview for Thomas. We then had studies for the day. Had dinner with the Driscolls and had Mexican food for Cinco de Mayo. Then after had dinner at Keith and Bing Volkers house. It was so much food. But they are awesome! He has so many questions and has been to so many churches. He is looking for the right one and he loves all that our church teaches. They love church and said this is the church that is for them. Today him, Bing and Joey came to church. It was awesome to be able to see a whole row of people that you have brought to church to feel of the spirit. We went to Christian's baptism that the Hedgesville elders taught. Super awesome he's a special kid! He's gonna be a great missionary someday. He has a super strong testimony.

We met a guy named Kenny out on his porch and I felt we REALLY needed to talk to him. So we went up there... and... He said he already had a church... so we went and knocked the door next to him. But we weren't going to take no for an answer to we went over there again and talked to him for a little bit. Turns out his wife had just died in December, and so him and his daughter Skyler were left to fend for themselves. We told him about temples and the plan of Salvation and it made him so happy. It was a super cool spiritual experience.

Nothing else crazy happened this week. But can't complain. Tons happened this week!
